I think only Jay could find a 17,000 mile 3.8 in a garage right down the street from him!
Oh. My. God! Glad it fell in his lap, and he’s preserving it. Opalescent sand, to boot. Unbelievable…
Original tyres, too….wait, what are those white things
PS he calls it a1963 car, but 875936 looks like it would be October 1961 (or a 1962 MY car)?
The chalk mark on the bonnet (5936) is the Body Number R5936, not the Car Number. Body Number R5936 would have been from a March 1963 car with a Car Number close to 879240 (which has Body Number R5937, so this is indeed a 1963 car.
Your right of course, my bad
Anyone know the nature of his operation? From hearing him speak it almost sounds like he is running some kind of business, or is it all self funded from his personal fortune? The costs of what he does with and to all those vehicles must be staggering.
He mentions Bernard (Jucchli) who has a connection with my car from when he had his shop Jaguars Unlimited in Los Gatos, Ca. The PO was a customer and his partner John, who he eventually bought out I believe, steered me toward the car when it went up for sale. Great guy, Bernard I don’t know if I could have gotten my car back together without his help.
He’s certainly making money from his youtube channel. He has many subscribers and gets many views. His collection is immense and was acquired over several decades though. Looks like his salary for the Tonight Show was 25M/yr so that funded a decent garage.
$25M/annum, at 17 years = $425M, plus smart investing and other gigs.
Yea…I could afford @Craig_Balzer’s puny lil shop, add 30,000 square feet, NOT sell the house, and have MASSIVE car parties!
Or…I’d probably just fix up a few choice cars (NEW THREAD!!!) and travel.
Hi,
I like the fact that he got the interior colour right, it is Tan.
That was not such a rare combination, Opalescent Golden Sand / Tan, but it is rare today.
Cheers!
That’s what my car was originally, oh well
And very pretty when you see it in real life. Pictures don‘t do it justice.
As Rod Stewart said: Some guys have all the luck!
Good for him, he has the resources to fix it up right, and restraint enough to not mess it up.

Jay Leno’s Garage fans often ask the same question: How much does Jay Leno’s Garage earn? When we look at the past 30 days, Jay Leno’s Garage’s channel receives 5.66 million views each month and about 188.76 thousand views each day.
YouTube channels that are monetized earn revenue by serving. YouTubers can earn an average of between $3 to $7 per thousand video views. With this data, we predict the Jay Leno’s Garage YouTube channel generates $22.65 thousand in ad revenue a month and $339.77 thousand a year.
Net Worth Spot may be using under-reporting Jay Leno’s Garage’s revenue though. On the higher end, Jay Leno’s Garage may earn close to $611.58 thousand a year.
My dream car, as original as I can find, 3.8 OTS, with the footwells and seat recesses!
I’d send half on Drinking, Casinos, Dining Out and Woman. The other half I’d just splurge.
Regards,
Bill
I understand that Jay self funds this operation and that it is a true passion of his for many many years….it’s just that he has time now to really indulge himself….the collection is not open to the public but on rare occasions he will allow for charity fundraising a tour of at least some of the cars.
Frankly if I had the funds to do that I would too……and thank goodness he is prepared to pour money into the restorations and preservations.
I’ve seen he also gets about $15,000,000 a year in salary, I assume from the CNBC show, Jay Leno’s Garage. Also, he diden’t spend his tonight show salary; he lived off of his other gigs and banked - invested the NBC checks.

Bernard retired from Jay a short time ago. My eng and trans and various other mechanical items were done at the Jaguar Unltd shop in Los Gatos. Dan, an old friend of mine, was Bernards head mechanic. Jay made Bernard an offer he couldn’t refuse, he sold the shop and the rest is history. Great mechanic, racer, person. Still helps out with advice today.
Why wasn’t that car full of mice? That garage looked like Mouse Heaven.
Maybe the owner also had cats? (We do, no mice in the house, nor garage )
Cheers!
