I recall someone was making drop in cup holders for MK2’s. Numerous searches have drawn a blank. I am having ashtray problems and I thought what better way to solve one problem by installing a nice cup holder.
I want one that is an direct push in model for the space normally occupied by the ashtray.

A few years back I had the same desire, put a cup holder where the ash tray is. I ordered one from from a Jag parts supplier in San Luis Obispo California. It arrived but the wood was very poor quality, I had to refinish it, the size of the metal cup holders was to small. After that I found a supplier of the metal cups, I would suggest you make your own.

I ordered the same one earlier today so I will check the wood quality which I can always redo or have veneered. Too small is a drag. Might have to return it if not up to snuff.
