1967 Mk 2/340 Right rear wheel bearing, BAD

Need information on replacing a bad bearing. I am hearing a slight grinding when car jacked up and wheel spinning. I am not finding info on MK 2/340

They use various versions of the Salisbury (or now owned by Dana) rear axle, very common in Jeeps and Fords.
The service manual covers removal of hubs, axle shafts and bearings.
But first be sure it is not your brake caliper and pads making the noise.
Try removing the pads or just use a prybar to move them away from the brake disc.

Your need a good hub puller, if it is a bearing ! WP_20150201_009

After I remove the disk brake hub, Is there a part behind it the holds the bearing and seal ? Is it necessary to remove the rear axel shaft to get the bearing out ? My manual does not give me any details, about just replacing the bearing and seal. Thank you in advance for any help on this subject

The oil seal is in the axle tube , the baring is the tapered kind , and is a tight fit to the half shaft , so yes the shaft has to come out , you can get different size shims to take the end float up on the bearing !

I have the same one - came in a red plastic case. Threads worn on one side. Paul

Great info, on the MkII rear axle, the pictures are perfect thank you all.
