I’m in Dublin and the proud owner of a 1969 Daimler V8 250 and it is getting more and more problematic to start the old girl. There are 100K miles on the engine and I would like to get it rebuilt by somebody who knows what they are doing. I don’t have much faith in what I have seen in Dublin so I would box up the engine and ship it to the UK. Could I have some recommendations.
One thing to know about the V8 engine is that it needs the bores to be dry when you start the engine, the cast iron is a very high grade and the bores glaze easily and will lead to smoking.
Have you run a compression, and a leak-down test?
