That being the case I don’t think the Kienzle clock is going to be suitable

Perhaps you have already spotted that there is a chap on eBay (on the UK site, not sure if he is on the US site) who is advertising replacement Smiths clocks. They state that the internals are all new but in refurbished cases so are likely to be indistinguishable from new. The cost is £130.
I believe he is one of the family at SNG Barratt and he regularly advertises parts for E Types, I am not sure how to copy all the site details to you but his eBay name is “Sterlingmess” and the item number is ( 123957332944 ) so you may be able to pick him up via one of those routes.
