1973 s3 2+2 e type coolant leak

Hello, I pulled in after a drive the other day and found I had a good amount of coolant dripping off my oil filter. Trying to determine where it might be coming from before I start taking parts off but I can’t see anything obvious. Feeling like it might be a water pump but the pulley area looks dry. Difficult section of the engine to get a good view of things. I appreciate any thoughts. Thanks, Dave

Onto the oil filter housing suggests a manifold leak, or the pipe that carries coolant, mounted underneath.

Best way to tell would be to get it up in the air, pressurize the system, and view from underneath.

On my 74 I had to replace the header tank and both steel pipes going from the heads to the radiator. The header tank turned out to be perforated like a sieve after being media blasted and the two pipes had pin holes showing up as bubbles in the powder coating after a couple of years… All caused by corrosion. It creeps up on you and suddenly you have a puddle or worse.
Good luck hunting … Ole

Thank you Paul. I’ll do some testing.

Thank you Ole. I will pressure test the system and try to find this leak!
