1977 xj6 4.2 fuel leak

Thank you Robin.Took me hours and hours to trace a non-existent fuel return hose from carbs to the tanks

Henry,
Welcome to Jag-Lovers.
If you plan to work on this car yourself then I recommend that you have the proper Series II XJ6 documents to do that. At a minimum you need an owners manual, a Jaguar Repair Operations Manual (ROM), and the Jaguar Parts Catalogue.
These documents are readily available in used condition on eBay or new though Jaguar parts suppliers. They are worth their weight in gold in helping you learn about your car, being able to sort out issues in a quick and efficient way, and find and purchase the correct parts.
I have owned and maintained several different Jaguars (MK VIII, E-Type, XJ6, XJ-S, and XJ12) over the past 22 years and these documents for each model, backed up by help from Jag-Lovers members, have been instrumental in keeping them running their best.

Paul
