1990 XJ (Sovereign) Parasitic drain,,,

Hi all,

newbie owner here, 1990 sovereign, and must say im loving her!

Battery drain prob at mo, will deplete overnight so have draw somewhere and about to investigate fuses one by one.
But did notice this alarm type thing fitted to battery clamp, it is diconnected but anyone know what is was? im thinking aftermarket alarm system, which may make the parasite hunt more tricky!

Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome Leo. That certainly looks an aftermarket alarm. If its disconnected then it shouldn’t cause any problems. I take it you know where ALL the fuse boxes are

Hi Robin thanks for the welcome!

Yeah was thinking if disconnected shouldn’t be a prob, but might just fully remove anyway

Re fuse boxes, got Haynes and drivers book so will check in those, unless any hidden ones you can advise?

Thanks

There are inline fuses as well that are around the under dash.

Leo,

Parasitic battery drain can be a REAL challenge as this series of posts in the XJ40 archives from eight years ago proves! If you have a few hours to spare it is worth reading since it may lead you to find a solution although sadly it would seem that the original poster didn’t :frowning:

great thanks!

2 items on my 89, abs relay in trunk, blue relay, at passenger side footwell,(us), dont know what the blue one controlled but it’s out and so is the drain.
