the smell is in the car and in the boot. no leaks any where. Where does the tank vent? There is a plastic
piece on top of the tank where the fuel pump goes in that looks like a hose should attached.
My '01 XJR would smell every time I filled up. Smoke test found no leaks but I read about the carbon vent cannister needing replacement. Mine was on the underside of the car in the right rear. I believe the tanks vents through it.
