2001 XKR Transmission Fluid Change (applies to XJR as well)

As I posted in my other thread, I changed the transmission and differential fluids in my XKR. I wanted to wait a bit to upload the video until I could get the transmission properly up to temperature and convince myself of the correct fluid level. I did and the edited video is below. The summary is that the transmission was about 1-1.5 quarts low. It was still shifting fine and adding in the extra fluid didn’t make a difference in how it was shifting. However going to new fluid it does shift better and it is quieter now. I’ll drain and refill the pan another time or two.

Nobody should be afraid of this. It’s not hard. Honestly it’s one of the easier transmissions to drain and refill fluid on in my opinion because you only have 6 bolts for the transmission pan and there are convenient spacers to get the exact right of “squish” on the gasket, so you don’t have to worry about overtorquing.

See the video below and let me know if you have any questions.
