'73 XJ6 power steering fluid

Does anyone know the correct power steering fluid type for a 1973 XJ6? I just had my rack re-built and the shop when questioned told me they used factory specified fluid type “CHF11S”. My Haynes manual says to use ATF. Can someone clarify this for me?

Thanks

I’m using plain old ATF in my S11

Since I left the Jaguar Dealer in 2006 the only Jaguars I have seen with anything but DEXRON used as PAS fluid was the XJ40 using HSMO and the 2000MY S-Type with the Ford steering rack (ESSO 998).

The ONLY time Jaguar issued Pentosin CHF 11S was for the X100 Convertible top hydraulics.(after UNIVIS was discontinued due to fluid failure)

Thanks Bob, thats what I thought. Also thanks for the spec sheeet.

Not mentioned so far is that the pump is GM. They all used any ATF, Dextron usually being specified for obvious reasons.

Another good point worth mentioning to these schleps.
