"77 Xj6 C Speedometer angle drive

My current angle drive has frozen up, and simply finding a replacement is turning into one heck of a hunt.
The alternative is running an all new (longer) cable from transmission to speedo.
So, I have a series of possible solutions, but could use some answers.
(1) both gears seem to be press fitted, are they removable without destroying? Maybe the gears can be at least examined and repaired.
(2) does anyone know of a source for a used one?
(3) What’s the possibility of a 6" extension for my current cable?

A question is whether the angle drive is meant to alter the drive rate of the cable, Mitch. Otherwise it is only fitted to avoid bending a long cable to get the angle right - a bend in a Bowden arrangement will cause erratic transfer.

Any sort of angle drive will otherwise do, but must fit the square drive on the speedo…?

I’ve got a bunch. Are there numbers on the drive,. to denote the ratio?
Is this the speedo end or tranny take off?
Rob

No numbers, so I suspect this was just to make the turn.
I’ve attached a picture of my current one.
This is the speedo end.

Mitch

I have this one.
I notice that it turns counterclockwise easily, but doesn’t like to turn clockwise.
I’m not that familiar with there, is that right?
If it works for you PM me. How’s $20 plus post?
Rob

That is normal. I bought one on ebay for a series 2 xj6 and thought I had been cheated till I figured out that they work fine in the normal rotation.
