90 positive battery cable size

Can someone please tell me what size conductor is used? On my 90 convertible the cable has been rubbing between the body and anti-sway bar for some time now and finally shorted out when I hit a good sized bump in the road. Thankfully it was intermittent and would clear when car was stopped. Towed it home and now I have another project. Thanks, Dave.

44 strand I think it’s called. Just replace with exactly what broke

If it was me I’d go to a welding shop and get 2ga welding cable. Finer strands, easier to run, plenty thick. You’d need to buy a crimp tool or have them do the crimps where necessary. Just a thought.

Thanks for your advice. It looks like the wire is 1/0 and I have ordered two long barrel butt splices and appropriate heat shrink sleeves to make repairs.

Good to know. Didn’t think my 89 was 1/0 but maybe I better look again.

Why don’t you simply reposition the cable so it doesn’t rub any more and fuggetaboutit? Or maybe apply some heatshrink around the abraded area?
