94 xj6 misfiring and stalling

I have been having a problem with my jaguar misfiring and when I let go of gas it stalls but in park it does not stall. I was checking things and noticed that when I disconnect the MAF sensor it runs better and does not stall is this a sign of a bad MAF sensor?

Hello Nicola D. - get the spray cleaner for the MAF (usually available in a can at an auto parts store) - disconnect the MAF harness plug and remove the MAF unit and spray the inside element all around to clean it - you do not have to dismantle the MAF unit - be careful to not damage the sensor strip inside (no need to touch or rub the sensor strip) when air dried, reinstall the MAF unit - check the pug connections before plugging in for being clean and not corroded - reconnect the MAF unit and test run to see if the engine still stalls - this may help you before you purchase a new MAF - Tex Terry, II - 1991 XJS V12 Classic Coupe, 1986 XJS V12 Coupe - sent 1/03/2021 1340hrs.
