94 xj6 transmission problem

I have a 94 xj6 and have been dealing with a problem for a while. When I start the car when cold it has a rattling noise which seems to come from around the torque converter, also when going backwards there is a whining noise. Recently it has started stalling when idling in drive or reverse, it feels like a Manuel car if you let out clutch without accelerating. It jerks forward and stalls. Could the torque converter cause these problems? I know that the transmission is fairly new.

This is a wild guess but these gearboxes did have a torque converter lock up feature which was only supposed to operate in top gear at speeds over about 53 MPH. I suppose if the control system was malfunctioning it could be operating in other gears causing the stalling condition. I also recall some cases of cracking or loose rivets in the torque converter mounting plate (flywheel) that caused rattling conditions,
