The only information I get out of the trip computer is odo and avg speed. Does any one have experiance with fixing these units? Would appreciate any help.
Hi Syd, trip computers usually get inputs on speed and fuel consumption. On my car which is 10 years older but has the same issue the injector pulses are modified in a little box with an IC inside and then sent to the trip computer which calculates the consumption. I’d start researching the process in your car, but it must be either a wiring fault, or maybe the chip that does the conversions has failed - which is usually the case on the old XJ cars. I can’t help you with where to look, but maybe that helps a little.
