98 header latch non release

Header latch release ??
with new lines, and new rams for the tops up and down movement, the top goes up and latches down securely…so secure in fact the header latch does not self release when activating the top down button…the rear 1/4 glass goes down promptly, and the door glass also drops a tad as it is supposed to…then after abour 6 seconds the pump stops running , the header then has to be released manually with the supplied allen key…then the top goes down pretty soon etc. What is the header latch problem, possibly needs bleeding ? funny it will latch going up, but not unlatch going the other way…?

Is there provision in the system for bleeding the air? I’d suggest trying to see an exploded diagram from one of the on-line Jag parts sources. To be a hydraulic problem, the system would have to be double acting; meaning, it would need hydraulic pressure to both open and close the latches. If there was air in the open circuit but not the close circuit, then the top will lock but not unlock.

Does this give any clues?
