Found this on E Bay and there is even a video showing it in action. I inquired and it does go into and hold all gears and will go into reverse. May I presume this does NOT have the old DG250 transmission and is the model 35? Fair price for a runner.

I’m thinking by this year they had shifted to the Borg Warner Model 8 or was it the Model 12 which was used in the V-12 E Types and early XJS cars.
All 420G had the BW8, and the Thornton powr-lok diff became optional
