My 140 has the stainless spring between the column adjuster and the underside of the steering wheel, with spring cups C.3366 and C.8576 on either end of the spring to locate it. I’ve just bought a pair of new cups, because my old ones are pretty battered. The new ones are both chrome, whereas the originals are painted black. The paint is ancient and there’s no sign of any chrome plate beneath it. Is anyone able to advise which is correct - chrome or black, please?
chrome have seen aluminum but certainly not black

Saves me doing it and painting, anyway!
