Hi,
I need to replace the wipe/wash stalk on my son’s X-type (MY 2004 I think). It has the kind of steering wheel showing below.
As there are no visible screws to tackle, I have no idea where to start to get the steering wheel off.
Can anyone please help?

Remove the three screws that hold the steering column cowling on.
Remove the cowling, two halves, top and bottom. It just slides on and off.
The stalks are simply held in by clips. Squeeze the clips to release the stalk, then unplug the stalk from the loom.
Fitting is a reverse of the above. Will take you 10 mins.

Success! Actually, I didn’t even need to loosen the bottom half of the cowl, just clipped off the top bit by slightly fiddling the upper corners nearest to me either side. The stalk - as you said Jimbo - just clipped right off.
