Another new distributor cap and rotor!

Over the past 27 years I’ve owned my '89 it’s been unbelievably reliable, never
breaking down or failing to start on the very first crank … except for 3 times.
All three times the culprit has been the distributor cap/rotor (although I’m not sure which one was the culprit because I change them both).

Needless to say I ALWAYS keep new spares in the trunk. Well time number 4 was today and of course after installing the new parts it fired right up.

I always keep the car in a nice dry garage and rarely drive in the rain so I’m at a loss to figure out this phenomenon.

By the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR and safe motoring to all my Jaguar friends.

Hi Dennis!

I was glad to read that the fix for that problem was that easy. But I guess you had a chance to get to know your car in the past 27 years. So it was about 2 years old when you bought it? Whoaa! Do you remember the first day when you took it home? I bought my '94 MY in March of 2007 when it was exactly 13 years old and 82xxx miles on the clock. Now it’s got 138xxx miles. I guess time flies when you have fun.
Happy New Year to you too!
