Any solutions for fault code 17?

Does anyone know if a code17 (throttle potentiometer fail) will cause the non-starting that Iam having trouble with?

I would guess that it would. The throttle potentiometer relays the position of the throttle butterfly to the ECU which delivers fuelling partially based on demand as indicated by the throttle position.

So if the relayed voltage signal is out of range, or indicating something other than the starting setting the ECU would deliver the wrong amount of fuel.

These throttle pots are expensive, but several members have found them to be oil contaminated and have a workaround that involves drilling holes to enable cleaning/drainage. Search the archive for details.

They can be dis assembled and cleaned properly, the base can be removed with a sharp knife. They can be set while still off the car at the closed position they should read between .4 to .6 volts and just shy of 5v at WOT

Thanks for the. Information. I will try that.
