Assembly is reverse of removal

My V12 did just that and dumped a few liters of oil on the road. Quite an expensive experience…

My ‘40 suffered NO ill effect from the direct ‘bolt to the block’ in the ensuing years that I ran the car so the oil circulation must have been OK.

Exactly… I would have figured this “short bolt” issue would have been a horse beaten to death a long time ago. I couldn’t find anything in the forums about how it flow.
It’s a compliment to this forum that we have so much collective knowledge shared.
I really appreciate everyone giving their educated opinions and creative problem solving.

I love this car and want to get it back on the road. Thank you all who have helped me get this far.
