Aux carb leaking

Hi all,

today, upon opening the bonnet I discovered that the lower part of my aux carb (the upper - automatic - part has been replaced by a manually controlled unit) is dripping fuel. Is there any collective or individual wisdom on the possible sources? It is an AED aux carb on a twin SU HS8 setup. One of the lower mounting screws seems to be missing, but that is about all I can see on the spot.

Thank you all and best wishes for the season

Sticking float in the AED? I had that when I was chasing my problem earlier this year.

Thanks Robin,

indeed some years ago it took quite some time and fiddling to adjust the float to avoid fuel being pressed out from the top screw. Of course, it might be that I’m in for the same game again and that just as a matter of temperature the upper part of the carb appeared dry. I will inspect reaction to the next cold start with aux carb operation.

The thing that had me surprised was the bottom of aux carb had fuel around even though the last use of the aux carb had occurred at least one hour earlier.

Best wishes

Jochen
