Aux Fan Cooling Stats

I was testing out my new auxillary fan (still using original OEM temp sender) with my new aftermarket temp gauge (sender is right behind thermostat on B bank), and recorded some stats, if anybody is interested.

OEM Aux fan temp sender is supposed to have the range of 197F On, 180F Off.

When my gauge hit 205F, the auxillary fan turned on.
After about 3 minutes, the auxillary fan turned off and the gauge read 195F.

BTW, my original vertical gauge read about a cm under the N, which seems a bit low to me for running around 200F. So I do not trust the original gauge for an accurate reading. I already pulled the instrument cluster, replaced electrical circuit board, and repaired/cleaned gauges.

The aux fan switch is on the inlet hose and would be seeing cooler water coming out of the radiator as it goes to the engine, the temp sender on your B bank is seeing the hottest water flowing out. So that sounds about right. With you engine not running but switch on what does your gauge get to?

You mean before start up or after shutdown?

After shut down, I would guess that the temp gauge would higher after ten minutes as your heat soaked engine warms the coolent.
