Battery 'cut off' switch?

Hi,

as mentioned in previous post, have a parasitic drain on my 1990 XJ, and will try to diagnose, but if cant find fault does anyone use a battery cut off switch?

I saw this automatic one which is interesting

Any experience from anyone?

Thanks

Jaguar issued battery isolation devices (also known as ‘transit isolation device’) for shipping cars to North America.(disconnected power aboard ship)
I removed them when the cars got to the dealer and then returned them to the parts dept for return to Jaguar.
You might find one and ‘reinstall’ it on your car?

No experience with auto isolators…but your original problem remains… Id pull fuses until a amp meter indicates short or drain is gone then trace the drain… normal drain on my XJ40 is around 36 milliamps–mostly due to the CLOCK

@2tonejag, yep did that and found the problem!
cant remeber fuse number but RH footwell box and for fuse for bonnet and interior light, was pulling over 300milliamps!!

left it out for now and back to 35mAh drain ;))

So glad you found it… maybe the bonnet lights are not going out… check it’s switch, interior lights easy enough to see… worst case would be partial short but likely would draw way more than 300mA… suspicion lights remain on…
not sure what controls the trunk lights… hope you find the problem ASAP
