Boot lid open light (in instrument cluster) will not extinguish

I don’t understand this at all. The light should go out. when the boot lid is closed. What’s happening?

Likely the boot lid latch micro-switch.

I have a 1997 XJ6L (X330). Boot lid latch microswitch, you say?

There is a micro-switch to tell the car when the boot lid is OPEN.
They fail and need replacement.

This also interferes with the “boot opening switch” doesn’t it?
