This string has good details about adding the mechanical pedal switch that Geo mentions. If you have ability to measure, cut , bend and drill some thin steel and make up some wire with connections it is pretty easy. I did it to my E and is much more responsive and reliable than the hydraulic switch and does not alter anything original with the car. I set mine up for the brake lights to come on with very slight foot pressure on the pedal.
