Cage nearly finished

Final gussets now in place…

Soooo… What are you doing to prevent electrolytic corrosion at the steel/aluminum interfaces? That will compromise the thin aluminum in those places in a matter of years.

Where steel is riveted to aluminium, the steel is coated and the rivets also have a special coating, where the cage fits against aluminium the cage is powdered coated and the shell painted, so no direct contact. Where the engine frames meet the bulkhead, again both faces etch primed, then paint, then clearcoat. I have seen Low Drags and Lightweights built like this that have survived for over 20 years with no ill effects for galvanic corrosion.

Pat,

Sounds like you’ve got it covered, as usual!

I REALLY miss the good ol’ days when I used to be able to visit and see your stuff in person!
