CATS shock replacement

(Robin O'Connor) #1

Not sure if this has been discussed before (I did a search but only one result came back) I had the unfortunate experience of a lower shock bolt disappearing from the left hand front shock on my XJR. Unfortunately the shock got tangled up with the lower ‘A’ arm and the spring. This resulted in the eye of the shock becoming distorted and also a dent in the shock tube. Time for a replacement.
Unlike normal shocks you need to insert a 8mm Allen wrench into the electrical connector to anchor the shock shaft from turning (ask me how I know) while using a looong 17mm spanner to undo the top nut.
Once it’s out replacement is just a reversal of the removal.
Happy spannering and a Merry Christmas all.
