Center air vent vanes

Has anybody taken apart the x300 centre air vents and figured out why the mechanism always breaks?
I wonder if it is just a plastic component failing that could be replaced by something manufactured from a better material?

Cheers,
Harald

There is a 3D printer pattern available for download

This was discussed here.

Thanks for that, I will give it a try. Not sure how the puller tool mentioned in the link is supposed to work, but I assume I just need to find somewhere to hook it onto and then pull the vent out.

Harald

Edit:
Will this also work for the rear seat air vents in the center console?

You are right about the tool but my center vents seem very stuck and I couldn’t manage to remove them. I will try (when bored lol) removing the instrument pod and see if that give access to try and help ease it out.

And yes the new piece will work in the back vents too!

I just had a look. Silly me assumed 6 vanes on the rear as well. In fact there are 7. So a different part would be required for those.
