The thermostats didn’t close anymore and initially I wasn’t sure if it is just one or both that didn’t close properly. I tried various things to find out. I couldn’t tell any difference so assumed both are not closing. That assumption turned out to be correct and I replaced both. And now I know how to detect it. Watch the radiator hose when revive the engine:
