I bought this car two months ago. In my garage 1200 miles away so I’m making do with looking at photos. Just noticed it has a chrome versus painted grill surround. Was this an optional item for the “R”? Just wondering…I actually like the chrome grill against the Quartz paint color.

American’s liked all the chrome on the XJRs
Painted was normal, BUT as said before , the surround was easy to swap, some liked chrome others wanted body color.
MANY people back in the day put the 95/97 mesh grill in the xj6 which looked great as well.
4 screws and that was that.
