Cold start takes longer?

Hi guys I have noticed with my 97 XK8 that when its cold it takes a few more rotations of the starter than normal for it to fire up. Not to sound stupid, but kinda da, da,da vroom on a normal day and da,da,da,da,da,da,da vrooom on a cold morning. Is this normal with these? Any thoughts? I have only owned the car a month or so

If the temperature is getting colder then your battery may be struggling. As the first port of call I would suggest fully charging the battery and trying it again.

I guess it could be a possibility, only reason I didn’t suspect it is because it doesn’t seem to turn over any slower, just takes a couple more rotations to fire

If the battery is getting old, it could be loosing it’s ability to support a load. Enough power to crank, but lacking the power to fire.

Ok gotcha. I will have to verify the age of the battery
