[collectibles] E-type various

Just joined this list (I guess we all just have as it is new!!) and have
been on the E type list for three years… I have many and various items,
but have been fortunate enough to find four stamps with E types on
them…Sweden, Liberia, Nevis, and Ajman Does anyone know of any others???
Ian , you didn’t have anything in the book about stamps that I saw…any
tips on finding more…I know that e-bay isn’t the sole source for looking.

Also am very excited about a new acquisition , but I have few folks around
here to share the excitement with, they just don’t get the reason for my
emthusiasm…My wife is happy for me, but still isn’t sure what the fuss is
about… My E type OTS has a Feb. 62 build date, and I have just purchased
a Jaguar E-type service voucher book for periodic maintenance…it is
actually a 1962 version, and only has one voucher/coupon missing (I’m
thinking these are rare as hen’s teeth! Please don’t tell me they are
floating all about England…)…Over the years I have gotten the 1962
overseas distributor list, original plastic pouch that all owners received,
original handbook…(not the reporduced version), the service manual that
only says “E-type” on the cover with no ‘3.8’ on it (v.E/123/2), and now I
have a question about what may be the last piece I need. Haddock’s book
says there was a “warranty” issued along with the pouch, owners handbook,
maintenance table, maintenance vouchers, full tool roll, and shelly jack for
the early 1962 cars… I have found no info on that item. Does anyone know
what it is, and natuarlly where I might start to search??? Thanks, and I’m
going to really enjoy this list!! Cheers, Steve Roush, Huntington Beach, CA

Hi and nice to see you waking the list up! There are currently 62
su*scribers since Friday across both versions of this list but I
suspect everyone is a bit shy and waiting to see what happens.

I saw one of these at Beaulieu last year but it was very tatty. Also,
thinking back and after a look, on 17th May 1999, this appeared on
the Collectibles exchange:

Jaguar manufacturers Warranty and Registration of Ownership folder.
(2) from 1964 code 3m-5-64 and (1) from 1963, code 3m-4-63. All mint
unused originals.

Maybe he still has them, or even the correct earlier one…

Stephen:

Sometime last year, I purchased an owners “pouch” off of EBay, though sort
of sorry I did for it’s not even for my model E-Type (a Series 1 1966
right-hand drive roadster). I suspect that the current owner of this
vehicle would die for these documents. Pulling it out reminds me that I
need to see if his car is registered anywhere. This one goes to a 1969
Series 2 OTS. In the pouch is the original bill of sale for the vehicle
($6,260.55!!); the Florida DOT temporary tag registration receipt; a small
double-sided card giving instructions on how to run the air conditioner; a
small service voucher booklet “Your Passport To Service”; a Jaguar Sales &
Service booklet giving the list of dealers in the US & Canada; the
“Operating, Maintenance, and Service Handbook” (for glove box); and the
original “recommended lubrication and routine maintenance” wall chart. I
just may have saved these documents from being thrown away by the EBay seller.

Of course, this has nothing to do with your quest, but just I’d throw in my
2 cents. Should any of you have any good resources for where I might start
looking for this car, I’d welcome your input. I hope the car is still in
existence and is owned by someone who cares!

Steve,

For a Feb 1962 build date USA delivered car I would expect you should have
the following Literature Pack:-

  1. Tan vinyl wallet, brown press-stud below gold “Wings”
  2. Handbook issue # E/122/2
(I am unsure/ mixed opinion whether in Feb 1962 Handbook included red
    vinyl cover, or not)
  3. Various loose handbook addendum / inserts. (Details available)
  4. Maintenance Chart, issue # 2/5M. 11/61
  5. Manufacturer’s Warranty card, red Wings, white print on maroon, with
blue band (denotes USA edition) across (4" x 8-3/4" folds out vertically)
  6. Periodic Maintenance Voucher booklet, publication # E/119 (maroon
cover), probably issue # between E/119/3 and E/119/5 (sorry, this is as good
    as current research allows)
  7. Overseas Distributors and Dealer booklet, 21st Edition
  8. Radio instructions and warranty, details dependent on actual radio
    fitted originally (if at all)

and I understand US delivered cars also had
9. Jaguar Sales and Service Centres in North and Central America booklet,
issue # 14 dated 2-62

Neither the Service Manual, nor a Spare Parts Catalogue were actually
supplied with car, but your Service Manual issue E/123/2 would be correct
period for Feb 1962, and you would want first edition (August 1961) of
publication # J.30 Spare Parts Catalogue for “E” TYPE.

Tools and correct Shelley brand Jack, if I can organise/prioritise my time I
will send details later if no-one else does.
