[collectibles] FYI for true Jaguar lovers

I just wanted to let you collectors know that JCNA has uncovered a
small trove of the wonderful Jaguar Wing keys. We are offering them
in the shoppe to members at a very low price. Do not wait for Santa
as these will be gone long before he makes his run. We have a very
limited supply in 3 codes–FS FA and FNR. These are not
reproductions they are the real deal. Thanks and hope this helps
some collector–It did me!–

Paul I do not know if you can see the shoppe or not but it is all
there–but since you asked for non members they are market price
(when they come up which is rarely) at $175. Members are $125 –
both plus shipping. We probably check and see if they are worth
more to melt off the plating! LOL–

That sounded like you want $175. Email him again and tell him $135 or $140,
your choice.-----Original Message-----

Sorry to sound uninformed , but what is a 'winky?

Presumably not an original key, as supplied new with your car.
Someone sent me a key blank gold plated, with ’ Jaguar’ wings and
name on the end that is in your hand, and a loop to attach to a
key ring. Marked ‘’ FA’ on the obverse side.

Nice enough for a gift but I can’t see $175 or $135, either AU$ or
US$.
How does one cash in such a valuable collectors item?

And where did the 'real ’ ones originate.–

George

I still don’t understand what these keys are.

Were they from Jaguar?

If not, why would later ones be reproductions, and what is ’ the
real deal’‘? And when was ’ back then’

Is there a story of where and when the originals originated?]

aguar and SS did supply various accroutrements that were branded
and are highly prized, but the difference between these and later
privately produced after market merchandise neeeds to be made clear.

I could understand the price for a factory original.–

In reply to a message from Ed Nantes sent Fri 29 Oct 2010:

Ed they were produced here in the US during the period when XKs
were new (back then). They look perfect in cars with a central ign
switch. They are little works of are. Jaguar US was 70% of the
market and did things that did not happen elsewhere and the keys
were part of that. They command very high prices and are very
sought after so reproductions were made but were never as perfect.
JCNA is expanding our services to members and when we make a ‘‘find’’
we offer it to our members. I post here (tastfully I hope) for the
many JCNA members who hang out on JL. As far as making it clear I
thought I did—there are not reproductions.–

George,

Could I echo the request for the S Type Registrar for a website link to the
Shoppe?

Are there photos available at the Shoppe?

Thanks,

Well
Georges message dis catch my attention, as you can read above
but lacked any details. So, after finding that they were being
offered by JCNA not JagLovers I found them in the Shoppe.
But still no details or a photo.

So, I went to my research library and, while not finding Winged
Keys, found that Crested keys were a common after market offering
in the early 1960s.

Two Jaguar versions were offered: a Crown Crest or a Growler Head
(photos of actual keys available from the ‘S’-type Register). At
that time, a key in gold plate on sterling silver or in pure
sterling silver cost US$8.25. In 14k gold - US$70.00.

Of course these designs were also available as charms for a
bracelet, cufflinks, tie clasps and for bolo ties (remember
those??)!!

Cheers,–

kidding. You need to because soon the JCNA shoppe will begin
offering ‘‘good stuff’’ from the US archives in a joint effort. So go
to WWW.JCNA.com and have a blast!–

I did find the JCNA site and I find I have to agree with George.
These are nice things.

However as the new unused, uncut, gold one I have is for an FA
series switch, which postdates my cars. I’d be happy to let
someone have it.
And as a goodwill gesture to Jag Lovers members. at half the JCNA
price .

One only, first in, best dressed. I can send a photograph.–
