[collectibles] Jaguar Cars Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster guitats

I recently bought an electric guitar because it had inlays of
Jaguar leapers, growler, and Jaguar logo in the fingerboard and
headstock and I couldn’t resist it. I was looking for info on its
origin when my wife’s nephew found this site in the UK selling a
similar Fender Custom Shop model that was one of 25 commissioned by
Jaguar Cars in 2000.

Now mine is definitely not a 30 grand Fender custom Shop
original, but a knock-off probably made in China, Mexico, or
Indonesia, but it is still classy looking and plays Ok to my
inexperienced hand. Does anyone have any more info about these
Jaguar Cars Stratocasters or ever seen one in a dealer showroom?

a few pics of my Jaguar Stratocaster are among the tractor pics at

uploaded the same to the Jag-Lovers albums under the concept
category–

Phil,

It’s hard to see in your pics, but I understand the originals were
in BRG with tortoiseshell pickguards. And I think a leather case.
I’m trying to imagine what Sir William would have thought on being
presented with one, although they certainly date back to his days.

Although the current lot of execs in UK probably grew up on Hank B
Marvin, albeit with a red Stratocaster.–

Yes, Ed, the original Custom Shop Jag Strats had BRG bodies with
walnut pickguards; even the backs of the necks were painted BRG.
They apparently came with white Connoly Leather ‘‘gig Bags’’ as well
as a hard case.

I think Sir William would have appreciated the mechanical nature
of Leo Fender’s guitars and his offering of value for price that
was so important to the Jaguar concept. I’d say the strat had
similar grace in design and in the right hands it certainly
had ‘‘pace’’. Since these Custom Shop Jaguar Strat models were
released in 2000, they were 15 years too late for Sir William’s
evaluation, although their price might have been a bit high for his
taste.

I found a fellow on the Fender Forum who posted pictures of his
Custom Shop Stratocaster collection and there in a group shot was
the Jaguar Stratocaster right in the middle. There was also a red
Hank Marvin replica in his collection. He said he’d send me some
pictures of his Jaguar Stratocaster, and that he knew the locations
of four of the five released for public sale with none in the US
that he knew of.

If no one on Jag-Lovers has ever seen one in a dealership, I’d bet
the other 20 are in display cases in the homes of Jaguar (or maybe
Ford?) executives.–

The Hank Marvin signature model looks pretty rare also.–

Seen one, held one. It is currently on the wall of a friends
home in Sheringham, UK. He a) does not play a guitar, b) is
not an ex-Jaguar executive c) does not own a Jaguar car. His
name is Keith though if that helps.

He is the first and only owner and it has never been played
as far as I know.

Hi seams like theres been copies made out of the Fender Strat
Jagauar already, or even maybe someone came up with the idea
earlier. check out the link and youll find the original F Strat
Jag. In my oppinion I do think its a bit mad that they made a Strat
Jaguar when the could have used the Fender Jaguar to build
a ‘‘Fender Jaguar Jaguar’’ from the pics of your guitar it tells that
your guitar is some kind of special.–
