[collectibles] XJ Avon Estate

Hy
Recently I saw an advert of an XJ6 4.2 Avon Estate (7 seater). Has
anyone of you seen this car in real and/or does anuy one one for
sale?

Hi Yoope,

I have seen one - and they are very much an acquired taste.

Although beautifully built, the coach-builders were not well-served by the
designers who made little attempt to blend the conversion into the original
lines of the XJ. The end result looks as if an up-market metal chicken shed
has been welded onto the back of the car.

Regards,

Hy Ian,
Just found a few pictures. I understand what you mean. I saw the
XJS Eventer built by Lynx. Not bad.

You are certainly right about the Lynx Eventer Joope,

That is a good example of the tiny number of conversions you look at and
wonder why the factory didn’t make one like that in the first place!
