[collectibles] XJ220

Hi all I have the 1/12th scale JAGUAR XJ220 in silver complete with
stand and box Is this model going to be worth anything in the
future? Not sure if it is still made Dennis–

Hi Dennis,

Much depends on who made it. If it is one of the Maisto models, then I am
afraid that the chances of it gaining any significant value over time is
virtually nil. They sold scores (hundreds?) of thousands world-wide in a
variety of scales and that will keep prices low for many years to come.

That said, if yours is not a Maisto, post the maker’s name up here and we’ll
all chip in with our views.

All the best,

Ian Cooling

In reply to a message from Ian Cooling sent Thu 26 Mar 2009:

Maisto XJ220?
I sold a British racing Green one of these for 30 a few years ago.
I bought it in the states for $15 and at the time '98 was around 7
So I personnally made a little money on it. I’ve recently seen them
sell for around 10 on E-Bay. I collect 70’s and early 80’s diecast
cars and vehicles so know what is worth keeping. Personnally I dont
feel its going to be a keeper. If you like it? Keep it and admire
it cause its a lovely model. If you sell it, I wouldn’t let it go
for less than 15. Hope this helps. Jonathan.–
