[collectibles] Your assistance please with mascots

Hi all, thought it was about time that something hit this list…

Ian Cooling and I are near finished working on a definitive series of
articles on the mascots to appear in Classic Jaguar World and are trying to
fill in some holes (not in the mascots though). It’s possible some of you
may have variants we don’t know about.

Can all of you who possess Version 2 (1955 on large mascot off Mk 2 etc) or
Version 3 (the 5 inch one off the Mk X) official Jaguar mascots have a look
at the underside beneath the front paws and see what the reference numbers
printed there are please and let me know? Also any other numbers that may be
on the bases. If
you have these versions without numbers, they are almost certainly not
originals but we’d like to hear about them with photos if possible. The
chances are that we’ll know of your numbers but…

Also, does anyone have Jaguar mascots that are not standard or they are
unsure of that may be of interest?

It’ll also be the first time that the elusive Prince Michael mascot from
SS100 CKV 250 has been covered in any depth - I have one of the few copies
made of the original here on loan. There’s also the possibility of us
producing a limited edition of solid silver collectors pieces of the
important mascots including the Prince Michael and the original Gordon Crosby
prototype.

If anyone has photos, please send them to me direct (@Tony_Bailey) as
the list will bounce any attachments.

Thanks

Tony–

Hi Tony,

I have four mascots.
two small ones with the number 7242653WBB, this is the leaper with the
protected tail.
The other one has the number 724265 WBB, this one is the leaper with the
long tail.
Then I have the big leaper with the number 7/10091/1 WBB also with
unprotected tail.
The last one is a small leaper with a round base and the marking DIDO .
Not an original Jaguar isue I think.

Tony,

The numbers from my '67 Mk2 are 7100911WBB. It was a good excuse to take it
off and give the mascot a thorough cleaning underneath.
