[concours] 150 FHC need info

Listers:
I am looking at purchasing a XK 150 FHC 3.8S with the following numbers.
They are supposed to be matching numbers but there has been a new plate
installed
and always the skeptic I wondered in the knowledge of the list could tell me
something about this car. It was purchased by the current owner at Pebble
Beach in 1999 and he was told it is a matching number car. Full frame off
restoration. The car is now Burgundy.
Anyone have a chassis number near this one so I could compare engine numbers?
Thanks
Ron Rader

Chassis number T836513DN, engine number VAS 1020-9

Ron R;
I don’t know how long it takes to obtain, but a JDHT certificate
would verify the original numbers, maybe John E. might have some information
on this 150 to help you out.
The likelihood that the original Commission Plate was beyond salvage
and replaced is about the same as someone “doctoring” the new numbers
plate… I don’t blame you for being a bit nervous…

Ron R.,

Take heart. In digging through the parts box of the, new to me, XK120
OTS, I discovered an older makers plate and immeaditely assumed I’d been
had. Later, relaxed and careful comparison showed they both had the same
numbers. Perhaps a concourse stunt, although this car is a driver not a
shower. Maybe in an earlier life?
