My 1961 e-type had 1 point deducted from concours score due to
the round plate on the firewall behind the windshield washer
bottle, not painted gloss black color. Can anyone tell me an
easy way to paint it without removing it. It was riveted onto
the firewall instead of screwed on. should I correct that too.
What color should the screw be? black or silver?–

Hi Bob,
Thanks for your suggestion. Since the plate is round, the
easiest way to mask the surrounding is to use wide masking
tape to tape the whole area then use razor blade to make a
round cut followed by removing the tape from the plate area.
That concours also deducted another point for its not having
lead shots bag on each side of the soft top to dampen the wind
vibration. I have never seen such bags before. Have you? Do
you have any picture of such a bag and how is it attached to
the soft top?
