[concours] E type air cleaner canister

(bounced due to html encoding, forwarded by admin)

WANTED Anyone out there who has a Ser.1 4.2 E type and is the original
owner.

I,m doing a survey to try to determine when Jaguar changed the color of the
air cleaner canister on the E type from black to silver grey hammertone
paint. I’ve received several different opinions on the subject but would
appreciate hearing from more people who have owned their cars from new. If
you’re willing to help, please respond with your car number, date of
manufacture (if known) and color of the canister.

Thanks,

Alan,
I responded to your original inquiry some time back. I purchased my '65
4.2 OTS from my original-owner-neighbor and know positively that he did
not change the color of its black air cleaner canister. This car has a
body number of 4E1186 and a chassis number of 10155.

Is there any correlation in Haddock’s book Ch.3, P. 32, the bottom of
the left column and the top of the right column states:

“1E.1464/5, 1E.12521/2, 1E.21214/5, 1E.32596/7, About September 1966,
the
air cleaner and its support bracket were changed. This is listed only in
Jaguar E-Type: The Definitive History.”

Good luck,
