[concours] finish of fuel delivery pipe

I was once told that the correct finish for the fuel delivery pipe to the SUs on
an E-type is “Butler nickel.”

Did anyone every hear of this plating finish, did my ears misfunction, or was my
leg getting pulled?

Yes, there is a Butler Nickle. I tried to find it real quick in my
Caswell Plating manual but couldn’t. Seems to me it was a special
nickle finish process. I’ll find it eventually and report back unless
someone else with a better memory than mine beats me first.

On page 46 of the Caswell Plating manual, he metions Butler Nickle as a
flat finish on steel as used on Model A Fords. He also compares it to a
cad finish so cad may be the correct answer.

Thanks, George.

So, I’m not nuts.

I bought a new one, but the ones they sell are unplated. Looks like I’m off
to the pages of Hemmings to find someone who can plate it.
