Subject: [E-Type] News from Franklin - Trouble in Paradise

I experienced a rather disturbing revelation today. Snobbery and
elitism is alive and thriving in the JCNA (duh?). I found out through
one of our local club members who helped with the route that there was
going to be a 180 mile tour for the C-Types, D-Types and XKSS’s this
morning. Realizing that this was probably a once-in-a-lifetime
opportunity, I took a day off from work and drove to the hotel in
Franklin, intending to follow the group at a distance and experience the
sound and beauty of probably the largest group of these cars ever to hit
the road in this country. I brought my cameras and plenty of film to
capture the memories as they roared by. At the starting area I ran into
Ginger. She had somehow wangled a ride with Norman Dewis, who was
following the group in a Ford XType! Cool! Almost immediately after the
start, some of the tail-enders got separated from the main group and got
lost. After much backtracking we finally found the others waiting for us
at a gas station a few miles from the hotel. What happened next was
almost unbelievable. The woman who was leading the group rather
unceremoniously demanded that Ginger and her friend get out of Mr.
Dewis’ car and take a taxi back to the hotel! In addition she informed
everyone following the group (3 E-Types) that they were not welcome
either! Ginger was actually in tears, and I was rather upset to say the
least. I ended up having to transport Ginger and her friend back to the
hotel in my OTS (with her friend sitting on the rear deck). After
dropping them off I headed to Lynchburg (the group’s destination) in a
red mist, hoping to confront the elitist bastards but I never could find
them. So much for the universal brotherhood of Jag enthusiasts. We
E-typers are just the scum of the earth.
