second place = first runner up. No one remembers who came
in second.
something I’ve never understood… why is it that only the
losers complain?
I win you lose… if you want to win do the work, spend
less time wingeing and more time working.
mediocrity does NOT rule Ok.
everything in this world is based on tangible measurable
results… you want the results? do the work.
we all get the results we want… don’t like the results?
change the approach.
we all have definitions of success … here are some of
mine.–

Godfrey . There a re many second place getters who we all
remember
In 1957 Jaguar came 2nd at Le Mans and yet Bill was looking
pleased.
We all remember Germany and Japan coming second in WW2
Lady Di came second to Camilla.
The Duke of Windsor came second with Mrs Simpson, no one
remembers who came first.
The US was second into space.
England seems to come second in Test Cricket a fair bit.
Anne Boleyn was second wife of H8 and more people know her
name than wife no 1.
Perhaps concours are like the Olympics, it’s more important
to have competed than to win … although that idea’s a bit
second hand lately.–

Ed… I don’t compete for the participation medal. My ONLY
second place trophy in thirty years was declined. From my
point of view losing is not an option… it is a choice. I
choose to win. QED Ps who was the wit who observed that
life is like a sewer… what you get out of it depends upon
what you put into it.–

And second posters on a thread can be much more
constructive and subtle than those who start them, it
appears.
This thread started off going nowhere and has duly
arrived.
