[concours] looking for a refferral

Listers:
I am considering buying a car from a chap I met in Monterey, CA.
His name is “Barrie Angliss” and he is a restorer in Auckland, New Zealand.
The feed back on his accounts on Ebay is all glowing.
Anyone ever buy a car from this chap?
He seems quite pleasant and nice to work with, but it is a long ways from here.
Ron Rader

Ron,

I have purchased a number of parts from this man and all dealings have
been very satisfactory. My only caution would be the cost of freight
which is prodigeous Good luck.

John

Seems like one of our group was having fitted luggage made in China.
Whatever happened with that?

Tom,

Good question. Wasn’t this offered as an option/accessory with the car?
Would make a very nice Christmas suggestion for the wife!

John

John M. & Tom C.
Do you know about the fitted luggage that the XK Club (I think) still makes?
They’re really beautiful.
I have pictures of the set if you want.

John:
I have been quoted $1500 for the car if shipped in one
“can” with another car. Maybe I will go there first and
drive it for a week?
Good excuse for a vacation next spring and a shake out drive.

Hi Ron–
Yeah, no problem–just give me a little time to get it all together. I
confirmed that they still make them and I can give you prices, etc, Off
List.

That was me… John Shuck ex. Beijing. I’m back in the states now and I
am still considering producing the luggage. I’ll probably preview it at
the Import Car meet at Carlisle in May. I’l probably make a
reproduction of an xk trunk area to show how they fit. I have two
sets…one done is natural color leather while the other is done in a
darker distressed leather. These are very well made in China by a
company that makes items for people all over the world. I’ve taken a
few liberties with the design and the interior, but the really look
good. I’m not sure what the others are selling for, but these will
probably be in the $1600 range for 2 fitted cases. There had been lots
of interest, but I just can;t get started with the project. Too many
irons in the fire I suspect.

John,

IU was thinking it was you, but I couldn’t remember for certain.

Anyway, I certainly understand about all those irons.

If anything comes to pass, be sure to let us all know. And in the mean
time:

Will Stevenson, keep me in the loop on the club luggage if you wouldn’t
mind! I imagine the price is quite similar to that quoted by John?

Why would anyone here in the States wanting XK Fitted Luggage want it
shipped from overseas
at a great expense. I’m sure one can obtain it here and it fits Perfectly!

Taris, ,

I have a set of your luggage and two of your reproduction spare
parts boxes, and am delighted with both items.

It took me about a year to assemble the correct NOS spare parts,
but I kook forward to having them in my boot someday.
