[concours] Re: Chrome swage line on XJ Series II V12

It’s actually fairly common, especially amongst Daimler variants. ORIGINAL
JAGUAR XJ even shows a couple of S3 Daimlers with chrome “swage lines.”

As a matter of fact, it’s listed in my Parts Catalog for the 6 cylinder
cars as well - both 2 door and 4 door models. I don’t know what market
actually used chrome lines for the six, but it’s certainly endorsed by
Jaguar’s catalog without any market restrictions listed. Interestingly, the
picture used for my illustration of same appears to use a S1 configuration
for both the 2 door and 4 door illustrations (lower front bumper with
turnsignal light over the bumper).

I have never seen a six cylinder with the chrome, but have seen twelves
that weren’t 1976 models. I can’t state if they were originally so
equipped, however.

The other thing that puzzled me at the recent Concours was that a 1975 XJ
Series II V12 had a chrome “swage line”. I’ve always thought that it were
only a temporary measure for the 1976 model year.
