Some time ago I was told that the Pumpkin heads were on engines planned =

That sounds about right to me. Brings me back to the OTHER end of the
colored heads. Anyone know what time period Jaguar was starting to leave
some bare heads? I’m pretty sure they were often, if now always bare by
late 1967. Did bare 8:1 engine heads escape earlier & how much earlier?
While I love the gold color, I’m not about to paint my 1967 head despite
the fact that judges & spectators love the gold heads UNLESS it was really
gold originally. Garry Allen suggested that I pull the head to see if it’s
ever been shaved, but that seems a bit extreme to me. What’s the earliest
ORIGINAL bare E-Type head any of you have seen?

If worst comes to worst, I guess I COULD pull the head off my spare engine,
which is of the same vintage as my car’s installed engine, but it still
seems like more trouble than necessary.
