[concours] Re: Re: [xj] Pepperpot Wheels, badges

Danny: no, the leaper badge on the front wings IS silver on black. The early
S3 V12 cars did have gold on black here, but that was later changed to
silver. Those same early V12 cars had the growler on the grille in gold on
gold, as opposed to gold on black for the xj6; they also had a gold steering
wheel badge. But your car correctly has the silver on black wing badges.

Gregory: If the growler badge on the grille and the wheel caps are
suppose to be gold on black what about the leaping cat badges on
the front quarter panels behind the front tires?

Danny: the caps, AND the growler badge on your grille, were gold on black
when new: it is often said that these are silver on black, but that is
only because they fade with the sun. The caps are correctly gold on
black.

Gregory: Thanks for the good advice once again. I would never
have guessed that they would mix silver & black and gold & black
badges on the same car. It must be a Jaguar thing whose reasoning
on this mater is above my head. At any rate the correct badges
are on order.
Thanks again
